The museum displays a wide variety of stuffed animals, revealing the great richness and diversity of the local fauna, objects from indigenous populations of various ethnic groups, and plants native to Paraguay.
The museum is located within the Asunción Botanical Garden and Zoo, in a large colonial-style building that belonged to the family of the president of Paraguay between 1842 and 1862, Don Carlos Antonio López.
